What do feminisms mean to you? Whose feminisms? Do Chinese interpretations of feminisms accord with or contradict your own views? Perhaps you have not thought of these questions, especially the last one. This special collaboration between editors of Feminisms with Chinese Characteristics, Cha: An Asian Literary Journal (asiancha | chajournal | hkprotesting), and Chinese Literature and Thought Today aims to bring together scholarly work and creative endeavours on feminisms.

In this symposium, there will be five presentations of original work in response to essays in Feminisms with Chinese Characteristics (Syracuse University Press, 2021), edited by Ping Zhu and Hui Faye Xiao. Each presentation will be followed by a scholarly comment. You can read the texts by clicking the links below.

The collaboration is co-sponsored by the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Kansas, Chinese Literature and Thought Today, and Cha.
